To get a person released, this amount is charged. Usually, the bond premium isn\u2019t refundable and is typically 10%.<\/p>\n

6. Bond<\/h2>\n

If the court sets an amount, but a person can\u2019t pay it, the person may turn to financial assistance. This assistance is usually provided by the company that can guarantee the full amount with the court. Typically, the accused pays 10%. For the full amount, the company will post a surety bond with the court. If every appearance is made, the debt is dissolved, and the company gets to keep the 10%. If the defendant doesn\u2019t appear, the full amount must be paid to the court.<\/p>\n

7. Collateral<\/h2>\n

It\u2019s the property or assets used to secure a loan. If a person doesn\u2019t appear in court, it may lead to forfeiture of the property and assets posted.<\/p>\n

8. Defendant<\/h2>\n

A person who is accused of crimes by a court.<\/p>\n

9. Failure to appear<\/h2>\n

In a court, a legal matter goes through a number of stages. Some of these stages, for example, the trial, require the accused to be present. Both trial and hearing dates are announced, and a notice is given to the accused highlighting when they must appear in the court. If they don\u2019t appear, the bail condition is violated.<\/p>\n

10. Withdrawal of bail<\/h2>\n

Sometimes, a court may decide against the release of a person. Or, a court may release a person but may not want them to stay released. Simply put, withdrawal of bail is referred to as denying the opportunity \u2013 whether it\u2019s after the person is released or immediately after they\u2019re in custody.<\/p>\n
